After this week’s episode it definitely provides a compelling argument. First, though, we have to determine what makes a great Survivor. Basically that’s a list that can be argued amongst the still millions of fans that appreciate the simple complexities of Survivor and what happens to and with people who are thrown together into a melting pot and forced to create a ‘society’. My current favorite season was season 2 with Colby, Tina, Mike and the rest where they survived the Outback of Australia. This is back when they really starved people and provided a bit less comforts or survival tools (remember the flood that washed through the camp?). So, here’s my reasons why this season is one of the best.
- There’s no single contestant that stands out
- The 2nd immunity idol has definitely made an impact
- The strategizing has been extremely entertaining as the two forces battled at tribal
- The unlikeliest people have been winning immunities
- The two initial tribes exemplified the ‘haves’ and the ‘have nots’ with the luxury beach vs. the nothing beach
- The challenges have all been structured to avoid having the physically strongest win all the time
- There’s no hotshot that’s continually running the game
One of the keys to this season is bringing Dreamz on board. This guy has waffled so many times and has been the central key in the past few eliminations at tribal. Most of it unknowingly. I don’t think he’ll win this but he sure factors into the outcome.
Overall I think this season has resurrected a possibly dying show that is now swarmed by dozens of reality knock-offs. It’s a shame that saturation may turn the tides of this tv phenomenon.
